2010 Summer Employment

 The Wayzata Community Sailing Center, located on Lake Minnetonka, fifteen miles west of Minneapolis, MN is now accepting applications for Sailing Instructors, Racing Coaches, and support personal for the 2010 season. We are looking for smart, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, honest, and hard working individuals. We offer youth sailing camps in Vanguard prams, 420s, J-22s, and youth racing programs in Optimists, 420s and Lasers. We also offer adult lessons aboard J-22 keelboats.

Youth Camps

The youth camps are designed to teach responsibility and teamwork as well as sailing skills. Summer courses start June 14th and run through August 27th. The ideal candidate will have graduated from high school, be at least 18 years old, have earned US SAILING Small Boat Level 1 instructor certification and possess excellent interpersonal and instructional skills (training in Level 1 available). Instructors will serve an eleven-week appointment; wages are competitive.

Racing Programs

The youth racing courses are designed to teach responsibility and teamwork as well as racing skills. Courses are offered from June 14th through August 8th. The ideal candidate will have graduated from high school, must be at least 18 years old, have earned US SAILING Small Boat Level 2 Coach certification and possess excellent interpersonal and instructional skills as well as dinghy racing skills (training in Level 2 available). Monday through Thursday is spent coaching at the Wayzata Community Sailing Center. Coaches will travel to Twin Cities Youth Racing events on Fridays, hosted on lakes around the Minneapolis metro area. Some out of state travel is possible. The race coach will serve an eight-week appointment; wages are competitive.

Adult Programs

The adult course follows the US SAILING Keelboat Training curriculum with student certification as the goal.  Courses are offered from June 7th through August 27th. The ideal candidate will have graduated from high school, must be at least 18 years old, have earned US SAILING Basic Keelboat certification and possess excellent interpersonal and instructional skills (training in Basic Keelboat available). Instructors will serve a twelve-week appointment; wages are competitive.
