Since our humble beginnings in 1981, we've grown from a small group of dedicated families to a true community sailing center. We prioritize access and lifelong learning on Lake Minnetonka through the sport of sailing. Since then we've grown to over 1200 annual attendees, hailing from 61 cities in Minnesota alone. Our adaptive, outreach, and community partnerships ensure that everyone has not only access to try sailing - but to continue sailing - on Minnesota's greatest resource. A humble crew of volunteers and seasonal staff supports our world class center to keep costs down and folks on the water.

Wayzata Sailing is one of just 35 US Sailing Accredited Community Sailing Centers in the United States, and trains staff for all major MN youth sailing programs, and continues to create new opportunities in STEM and sailing progression.

Our summer camps are a place to play, learn and grow. Sailors from beginner to advanced can fine tune their skills in our racing programs. Numerous racing regattas held throughout the season give all our sailors a chance to have fun and test themselves. Many local events are designed to serve beginners who just want to learn more. Other, even larger events, have a regional appeal. An array of adventure and exploration programs complement our racing programs, providing alternative options. Join us on foils, go fishing, or explore lake ecology in our STEM programs.

Outreach partnerships and scholarships ensure access for everyone. We provide 11 weeks of cost free programming to YMCA and IOCP sailors. Individual scholarships for any program are always welcome, and we deliver over 20% of our programming cost free.
