Who should take this course?

Returning and confident beginner sailors, ages 7-10 who have completed 1st-4th grade.

What will my child learn?

Our highly trained staff uses the US Sailing instructional system in an open and interactive learning environment. Classes begin with land-based lessons and demonstrations followed by shallow water activities and finally open water practice. Basic sailing skills like upwind sailing, downwind sailing, reaching and docking are covered. Additional activities like swimming & games are interspersed throughout the day to keep the action going and provide a fun group experience. As the class progresses we may introduce longer sails to Spirit Island and can even begin some introduction to racing if kids show interest.

What do we need to bring?

Students must bring their own lunch and snacks as well as a lifejacket, water bottle, change of clothes, water shoes, sun protection, and towel. See our FAQ for more info.

What Course should my child take next?

We recommend 2 or more sessions for those who really want to improve their sailing skills. Confident Pram Camp graduates interested in additional learning, challenges, and fun should consider the O'Pen Skiff or Pram (Optimist) Race.
