WELCOME

We Have a New Home:
June 25, 2007 was a historic day for our community. After months of planning and fund raising, the Wayzata Sailing Foundation purchased 456 Arlington Circle South  from the Rosekrans family. The Wayzata Sailing Foundation, a Minnesota 501-c3 non-profit organization, purchased the property to create the Wayzata Community Sailing Center. 456 Arlington Circle South is directly west of the Wayzata Yacht Club and just east of downtown Wayzata.  So we won’t be moving far, just next door.

The investments in property, buildings and equipment to create the Wayzata Community Sailing Center are being provided by charitable contributions. Hundreds of pledges and donations have been received, totaling to date over $1.7 million. The Wayzata Sailing Foundation is actively seeking additional private donations to pay off remaining debt and accumulate needed capital for future improvements to the site.  WSF is asking the City of Wayzata for a conditional use permit (CUP) to change the current R2A zoning to Offsite Recreational Status, so that the former Rosekrans property can be operated as the Wayzata Community Sailing Center during 2008 and for the future.

Name Change:
The Wayzata Sailing School and the Wayzata Sailing Foundation will now do business as the Wayzata Community Sailing Center.  Same friendly people with the same high quality programs, just with a new name and home!

Classes for Five and Six Year Olds:
The Kinder Pram Sailing Camp is for students ages 5-6 who have not entered 1st grade. Based on the very successful Canadian program, Kinder Pram will introduce children to the sport and help guide parents through the journey their child will take at the Wayzata Community Sailing Center.

Half Day Camps for Teen’s:
This new course will be for teens who want an afternoon sailing experience.  Students will learn on our new J-22 keelboats offered in two week half day camps. Small class sizes and great instructors will make this a great new opportunity.

Adult Lessons on Keelboats:
Live your childhood dream and take sailing lessons this summer. Classes will be offered in the evenings in two week sessions aboard our new J-22 keelboats.  Don’t miss out on this summer, it’s the program everyone has been waiting for. Go to Adult Lessons for more information.
